Chen, Tao Su, Brad Brim* SiSoft - Walter Katz* Teraspeed Consulting Group - Bob Ross* ======================================================================== No patents were announced. The team reviewed the draft text of the full Touchstone 2.0 specification. Radek suggested that the new text on page 4 could be prelaced with a better discussion of conventional vs. mixed-mode representations. He will provide this text. Radek also suggested that the characters "MMS" could be used on the option line to signify mixed-mode data and, in combination with [Mixed-mode Order], no specific [Mixed-mode Data] keyword would be required. Bob later suggested that even MMS could be removed in favor of simply using "S" with [Mixed-mode Order]. Vladimir noted that the [Matrix Format] keyword and conventions can apply to mixed-mode data. This restriction should be removed. In addition, Radek observed that the presence of SD1,5 should prevent use of SD5,1 data. Vladimir also noted that the term "relationship" is better changed to "variable" or "mapping." Additionally, a rule should be added to note that the number of ports is related to the number of elements in [Mixed-mode Order]. On [Mixed-mode Order], Bob suggested that whitepace be used as a delimiter, without semi-colons but perhaps with parentheses. Brad disagreed, suggesting that parentheses complicate parsing. The team will review this in a future meeting. Vladimir noted that the single-ended impedances in the [Reference] keyword should follow the port numbering order. Further, the text on referece impedance should note that the common-mode impedance is actually one-half of the single-ended impedance given. The example given is missing at least one data column and should have an additional reference impedance. Mixed-mode S-parameter transformations may have to be explained in an appendix. Y, Z Transformations are much more difficult and may also require explanation, if supported. Reviews will continue on the updated text in the next meeting. ======================================================================== Team Objectives: 1) complete ICM-IBIS linking BIRD and any associated changes to the ICM specification 2) update the ICM specification, if needed, to clarify the mapping of ICM nodes to S-parameter ports 3) complete a specification for "Touchstone Plus" or similar industry-standard definition for Touchstone-like files, to include complex impedance references, removal of limits on the maximum number of ports and per-port impedance references ' ------------------------------------------------------------------ The IBIS Ad Hoc Interconnect Task Group Mailing List Archives are available at: http://www.freelists.org/archives/ibis-interconn TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a message to "ibis-interconn-request@freelists.org" with a subject of "unsubscribe" To administer your subscription status from the web, visit: http://www.freelists.org/list/ibis-interconn
